Looking for Information:
Cann Family and possibly a connection with the black families of PEI

I have been told could be folklore, not sure, that my great great grandfather a one Samuel Cann Sr who settled in PEI from England had two wives. One who passed and had three children-Samuel Jr., John Gibson and Mary Ann Cann. The wife could of been black. Also after she passed away, Samuel Sr. married a Maria Threadgill who was supposedly black or possible of a darker complexion. It may be that the wives could be of any ethnic background, but since I cannot seem to locate much on Samuel Cann Sr and his first wife who would be my great great grandmother thought perhaps you may have historical records or such regarding a Cann lineage. However, I am anxious to learn what I can so that I can notate my records accordingly. Anything you can do would be appreciated.
